The Fall of General Custard Cookbook
The Fall of General Custard Cookbook is here! Marlene’s “companion” cookbook is inspired by author Matt Damon’s, food-themed children’s book, The Fall of General Custard or The Overthrow of a Leftover.
The affordable paperback cookbook will engage children who love the original book in kitchen fun and skills.
At her California cooking school, Chef Marlene Sorosky taught alongside culinary luminaries such as, Julia Child, James Beard, and Jacques Pepin. She has received both the James Beard and International Association of Culinary Professional awards. Marlene also has been a frequent guest chef on ABC's Good Morning America.
When Marlene read Matt’s book, about a rollicking food fight in a refrigerator, the characters came alive in her imagination. Before long, the child in Marlene had convinced the chef in Marlene to “get cooking” with a collection of fun recipes that children (of all ages!) could make and enjoy, along with Matt’s whimsical tale.
The Fall of General Custard or The Overthrow of a Leftover
The Original Children's Book
The Fall of General Custard brings to life an imaginary world inside of a refrigerator. When the greedy General Custard sows seeds of fear and distrust, a full-on food fight breaks out. Then, Rosaline, a brave maraschino cherry, and her faithful friend Romeo the olive, must do everything they can to restore the peace.
This rhyming story, full of humor and word play, is accompanied by the rollicking and whimsical illustrations by award-winning illustrator Gideon Kendall.
The book stands on its own as delightful, all ages entertainment, but it is also layered with a thoughtful approach to conflict, cooperation, and standing up for what you believe is right.
